is a river boat. The old skipper transported goods all over
Europe. His family traveled with him; the boat was their home. The
skipper and his wife slept in the back part of the boat, -a very small
space-, together with their children.
One
day, the children, - boy and a girl-, didn't want to share bedrooms
any longer. They wanted to go to a 'normal' school and live a 'normal'
life.
Without moving around of course.
So,
the skipper took out the engine, replaced the old roof, and built with
his own hands two bedrooms for each of his children to sleep in
separately. For
him and his wife he bought a new boat, as, even in those days,
transporting goods without an engine wasn't the most efficient way to
earn money.
Later
on, his children didn't want to share the kitchen an the bathroom any
longer. They wanted to form their own families and live on a 'normal'
boat. That can move, of course!
So, the skipper bought two engines for his children and... sold their boat to us.
